#26 Critical Film Review...

The Hunger Games.
Directer by Gary Ross
Staring: Jennifer Lawrence (as Katniss Everdeen) Josh Hutcherson (as Peeta Mellark) Liam Hemsworth (as Gale Hawthorn) Elizabeth Banks (as Effie Trinket) and Woody Harrelson (as Haymitch Abernathy) also staring Donald Sutherland (as President Coriolanus Snow)

The Hunger Games is a trilogy story written by Susan Collins, which was made in a featured film. It is a story about 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen who lives in the post-apocalyptic nation of Panem. The Capital, exercises political control over the rest of the nation. The Hunger Games are an annual event in which one boy and one girl aged 12–18 from each of the twelve districts surrounding the Capitol are selected by lottery to compete in a televised battle to the death.

I am a huge Hunger Games fan and have read all three books in the series. When I heard they were making a Hunger Games movie I was very skeptical about going to see it. Mostly because when people make a movie based off a book it never ends up well. When I saw the movie for my friends birthday, who was also a die-hard fan of the Hunger Games, we watched in silence bringing in everything that the movie portrayed.

During the movie I notice small things that the director left out that was in the book, I had also noticed that they had changed things form what they originality were in the book. That did not bother me as much as I had thought it would.

The movie was quite good, I mean they had a lot of fans that would have ripped the movie to shreds. I loved seeing how everything was brought on the screen. How I thought things would look and how it was presented were close, I was impressed by the chemistry that all the actors had with the character that they were playing.

I had doubted that Lawrence(Katniss) would be able to play Katniss. I thought someone else would have been better. I was dead wrong, she was perfect. Everything about her resembled Katniss and thats why I was able to get into the movie so well.

During the film you are brought into this world that is very futuristic and quite dangerous. One that is feared by the government and everyone is beneath the Capital. I felt that this movie was able to show what life was like without explaining much, like how the book did. You were captivated by it, I thought that it was a wonderful movie and I am anxiously waiting for Catching Fire (second book of the trilogy) to come out hoping that it is as good as the first.

#25 Pop Culture...

One of my favorite shows that I have been a huge fan of is the The Vampire Diaries. This show is basically a love triangle between Elena and the two new mysterious gentleman that have just come into town, the Salvatores. Damon is the older brother (And my favorite, he is just so cute!) He has a very dark and wild side to him. Stephan is the more charming and quite brother. Both with a huge secret, they both are 160 year old vampires.
When Elena catches both of their eye, Damon is drawn to her because of the resemblance of his former lover, Katherine. Stephan has an instant connection with Elena, noticing that she also looks like his former lover, Katherine. This leaves the two of them falling in love with one another. Once again the two brothers, who aren't that fond of each other to begin with, are caught in a love triangle with Elena, as they both were once with Katherine. As the show goes on and the series progresses, new friends are made secrets are revealed and with a shocking twist! Everything about the show keeps you interested and makes you want to watch more. You really cant get enough of the Salvatore brothers.
This show is full of a lot of exciting characters and is a Vampire show that I actually find myself enjoying. I have always been a vampire fan, just how I think vampires should be and look and act are very picky. I enjoy that in this show theses vampires are at least believable that they could be this creature.

Assignment 22...Smoking? Ew!

Ten Reasons Not To Smoke...
1. Peer pressure
2. Social rewards
3.Risk-taking behavior
4. Parental influence
5. Misinformation
6. Genetic predisposition
7. Advertising
8. Self-medication
9. Media influence
10. Stress relief

I dont smoke. I have grown up with smokers all around me. Most of my family smokes and I've never seen the reason to smoke. My grandma started smoking when she was around sixteen, I lived with her from when I was three until she passed away from lung cancer a few days before my fifteenth birthday. She was the most important person to me and she decided to smoke and from that she had gotten sick and died. Smoking is something that I see all around me everyday, I'm used to being around it although I have never tried it. I don't want to end up like my grandma and others like her who end up getting all these different types of cancer and not be there for my family. Smoking is bad, plain and simple. The ones who don't care about what will happen to them in the future, you are not only hurting yourself you are hurting everyone that cares about you. Why do that to your family? Why do that to your friends? Why do that to anyone? I don't know about you, but I'd stay away from smoking.

Assignment 24 Typing...

While I was in grade school they had a program for us to learn how to type. So once a week my class would go to the computer lab and learn to type. This activities that we had to do where somewhat easy, but there were a lot of levels that you had to go through to get to the next part of the program. If we finished the typing program by the end of the year we were giving a prize. I never like they typing program, I always thought it was boring.

This program I found seems to me, an easy and fun way to help with someones typing. This is a fun way to improve your typing skills. It gives you all sorts of games where you need to type fast to win, it can give you a trainer to help where you put your fingers on the keyboard. This is a great place to go if you need to improve your typing, or if you just want to have fun playing with your fingers.

#20 My Choice.

I guess I'll write about a new movie that has recently come out in theaters. The Great Gatsby.  Written in 1925 by author F. Scott Fitzgerald. The recent movie which came out May 10, 2013 staring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joel Edgerton, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan.

Set back in the twenties, this magnificent story is about a two lovers who after so many years are reunited. Daisy unfortunately now is married to someone she doesn't truly love. Jay Gatsby is still in love with Daisy and when they are reunited their affair continues. Of course there is always something or someone that has to get in the way of their happiness and their love and that is Daisy's husband. Even though Daisy's husband plays a big role of why they cant be together, he himself has been having his own affair with a woman of a much lower status that they are. Jay is a mysterious person who's charm is at some times quite luring. Everyone is wondering 'who is this man?"  When Daisy finds herself stuck between two men, she has to choose which one of them is meant to be with her, as well who she should be with. Who will she end up choosing?

A wonderful story about love, lust, deceit, murder, greed. An excellent movie that I recommend that everyone goes to see.

Assignment #19 Being Charitable

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Orange County and the Inland Empire is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and fulfill the wishes for children between the ages of 2 1/2 and 18 who confront life-threatening medical conditions. Granting wishes helps these children find the hope they need to transform their life-threatening illnesses into life-affirming triumphs. Formed in 1983, the chapter has fulfilled the wishes of more than 3,500 children. Their mission is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.

This charity is very important to me because if I was a child with a life threatening medical condition, I'd want to have a charity that cares about me. Plus I would want that for any child that was in a serious condition. If I was a mother and my child had cancer I'd be blessed that a charity is loving enough to make sure that every child including mine is smiling.

It breaks my heart to see young children in great pain or very sick with serious medical conditions. To have this charity 'granting wishes' for the kids if something special to them. Whatever is wrong with these children, their life is being put on hold because of their sickness and this organization helps them not only have a smallpiece of their childhood back but helps them feel like a normal child.

#18 My Bucket List...

1. Something that I have always wanted to do was to travel to Ireland. A lot of my family is from there and it has to been something that I have wanted to do since my sister and I found out we were Irish.

2. I have always wanted to learn how to surf. I've lived at the beach my whole life and have never done more than boogie and skim board.

3. I'd love to go to an Eminem concert. He's my favorite rapper and I am a true die-hard fan of his.

4. I want to spend NewYears with my sister, in New York City. She and I have wanted to do this since we were kids, and because I have never been to New York.

5. This is a small one and probably the easiest one to get from my list, but I have always wanted to get a tattoo. I'm not wanting to get something big or colorful, just something small like a cross or something easy to do like that.
